FAQ's

What is SunSeed Soap?
Small soap tablets or "seeds" that you mix with water to make liquid soap. Not a synthetic soap but made with plant oils using 100% energy from the Sun. Unique and patented.  Makes foaming soap OR thick luxurious liquid soap. Your choice! No preservatives or synthetic addtives of any kind. Help the planet!

What are shipping charges?
Upfront fair flat rates.  Don't you hate when you enter all your order and information just to find out at the end the shipping costs as much as the product!

What are the soap ingredients?
All the soaps are formulated with saponified plant oils including local Minnesota unrefined sunflower oil, coconut oil and cocoa butter.
"Saponified" means these oils are reacted with lye like soap was made for thousands of years. The lye is all used up in the process and none remains after saponfication.
The "lye" in this case is potassium hydroxide which is commonly used for liquid soap.
The other ingredients include:
Purified reverse osmosis water
Potassium lactate (produced from fermenting sugar and used as a humectant and tablet hardener)
Potassium gluconate (produced from fermenting sugar and used to control hard water that you may be adding to dilute the soap...although always best to use softer water)
Rosemary oleosresin extract (an antioxidant extract of rosemary used to prevent rancidity or discoloring)
Plant essential oil blends I make myself from 10 different oils including rosemary, lemongrass, peppermint, eucalyptus, clove, cinnamon, lavender, anise, sweet orange & tea tree. The specific blend oils and all ingredients are clearly printed on a sheet inside the foil packs.
Potassium chloride (this is used in "lite salt" that many people use to reduce their sodium intake in food. It is found naturally as a mineral in lake deposits. It is the ingredient used in the patented formulation to thicken your soap when you dilute the little pellets or "sunseeds" with water. But use less sunseeds and you can make foaming soap with the right dispenser)

What happens if I use too few or too many sunseeds to make my soap?
Three is recommended in a cup of water for foaming soap and six in a half cup for thick soap. If you use less for foaming soap it will not have optimal lather and if you use more it may begin to slightly thicken your soap and make the foaming soap dispenser fail to pump. If you use less sunseeds for thick soap it may not thicken well enough and if you use too much it may gel and be unable to be pumped.

I am in a hurry. Can I dissolve my soap faster?
Just make up two bottles at a time to have a spare ready. But if you insist...sure...use boiling water and stirring and you have liquid soap in 2 minutes! But let it cool before using.

How should I store the soap?
Airtight storage. Since the sunseeds are formulated to dissolve more easily in water than regular bar soap they need to be protected from moisture and humidity. That is why they come sealed in aluminum foil with dessicant packs. You can buy a starter kit that comes with a tin storage box or use your own aritight container. Be sure to place the dessicant packs from the foil into your container.  If they are exposed to humdity or mositure they will still work fine but may get sticky.

How much liquid soap can I make from the 36 tablet foil soap packs?
Twelve 8 oz bottles of foaming soap or six not quite 8 oz bottles of thick soap.

Where are you located?
All the soaps are proudly made by hand in the USA in Minnesota.

The stainless dispensers with mason jars in the starting kits are cool. What if I want more or mine fails?
I don't make a profit off the dispensers so I recommend you order more directly from where I get them for my starter kits. The silicone sleeves are available from them  too. masonjarlifestyle.com.
